It was Trish Stratus, of all people, who best analyzed America's fascination with Dancing With The Stars.
The diminutive but deadly Canadian pro wrestler was asked about the show last year, when fellow wrestler Stacy Keibler was one of the competing dancers. To the outrage of many, Keibler wound up finishing behind National Football League star Jerry Rice, who placed second overall.
"If you need proof that Americans are obsessed with football, there it is," Stratus said with a laugh. "Jerry Rice tries very hard, but Stacy actually comes from a dancing background.
"Jerry Rice is no Stacy Keibler. Not even close. But Americans love their football."
Fast-forward a season, and lo and behold, another former NFL star -- Emmitt Smith -- has advanced to the final of Dancing With The Stars.
