Callaway Golf calls their special fitting locations "Performance Centers" so it was more than appropriate that they had a special guest on hand at the DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill, Ontario today that knows more than a bit about the term.

Former WWE star Trish Stratus, a budding golfer and now owner of the Stratusphere Yoga Studio, helped Callaway Canada kick off the opening of their 15th (world-wide) Performance Center in style.

Gone are her blonde locks but the dazzling smile remains for Stratus who has moved on from the ring to a successful business career. Obviously a big attraction for the assembled media contingent, she was more than a visual prop as she got into the fitting action and talked about the importance of equipment to high performance athletes.

"No matter which sport you play, in my experience it's always better to use equipment that fits your body and playing style than to risk performance - or worse, injury - with gear that just doesn't fit," said Stratus.

Now one of five such facilities in Canada, the Performance Center at DiamondBack will be available to consumers seven days a week on an appointment basis. Like the other centers golfers will have access to computerized analysis, high-speed digital photography, and the guidance of trained fitting professionals.

Barry Wallis, Performance Center and Golf Education Manager at Callaway Golf Canada says that before Canadian golfers start playing this Spring they might want to first assess their gear. "This time of year, golfers are dreaming of warmer weather and setting foot on the course. Getting equipment in order should also be -top-of-mind. Everyone who play - regardless of their skill level - can benefit from clubs that are built with their specifications in mind."

The partnership with DiamondBack is a unique one in that the club, owned by ClubLink, Canada's largest course operator, is private but the new Callaway Center will be available to the public. The venture also includes the first public Callaway Golf Boutique Store in Canada. It can be found in the same building as the Performance Center.

"ClubLink is always endeavoring to add value for our members and this is the latest example of that commitment," said Charles Lorimer, ClubLink Vice-President, Sales & Marketing. "This is another step in the evolution of our long-standing relationship with Callaway Canada and an opportunity not just for ClubLink members, but all golfers to experience leading-edge fitting techniques at an outstanding ClubLink facility.

The cost for a fitting is (CDN) $60 with a portion donated to the Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity. For that amount golfers also receive a one-hour fitting consultation, specifications for custom clubs, a golf swing analysis pamphlet (CPGA Pros do the fitting), "See Your Game" video and photos of your swing sent to you electronically, and two sleeves of golf balls.

To arrange for a fitting session you can get a referral through your home club professional, a local retailer, or contact Callaway Customer Care (Canada) at 1-800-387-7000.

Unfortunately for Trish Stratus fans she won't always be on hand at the Callaway Performance Center at DiamondBack. But now that she has left the ring and has a little more time for herself you do have a better chance of running into her on a fairway sometime.

Just what we all need - another excuse to play even more golf!
