BURGER KING(R) today announced the launch of MeatHaiku.com, a light-hearted website dedicated to the love of flame-broiled meat in honour of the BURGER KING(R) Steakhouse Burger. Canadian meat lovers can now freely express their affection for meat by submitting a haiku poem to show that meat eaters have a sensitive side too. Haiku is an ancient form of Japanese poetry consisting of a set number of syllables per line: five syllables in the first line, seven in the second line, and five in the third.

"You don't have to be a poet, you just have to love flame-broiled meat," said Cameron Loopstra, Marketing Manager of BURGER KING(R) Restaurants of Canada Inc. "There are plenty of samples on MeatHaiku.com to show visitors how to write anything from a humorous to sentimental haiku poem - and everything in between."

The tongue-in-cheek website celebrates the long-awaited arrival of the BURGER KING(R) Steakhouse Burger, featuring a 100 percent flame-broiled Angus beef patty topped with crispy onions, processed cheddar cheese, hearty steakhouse sauce, crisp lettuce, tomatoes and served on a sesame seed bun. The Steakhouse Burger is available across Canada as a permanent menu item for the suggested retail price of $4.49.

First 100 Canadian "poets" are eligible to receive a BK(TM) Crown Card

The site, which includes an easy-to-use haiku-writing application, will give the first 100 Canadians who have their haiku posted the chance to win a BK(TM) Crown Card gift card loaded with $25.00 Canadian dollars, redeemable at any participating BURGER KING(R) location across Canada or the United States. BK(TM) Crown Card gift cards can be used just like cash towards the purchase of favourite BURGER KING(R) menu offerings, including the Steakhouse Burger.

Trish Stratus offers her take on MeatHaiku.com

Canadians are encouraged to put on their creative caps and come up with their best haiku poem. Former wrestler Trish Stratus, star of the new adventure travel series Stratusphere, on CTV Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. E.T., and owner of Stratusphere Yoga Studio in Vaughan, ON offered her take on meat haiku, striking a balance between her love of meat and passion for yoga:

Do yoga, eat meat
Stratusfaction guaranteed
Do the body good

"MeatHaiku.com provides Canadians with an opportunity to express their love for meat, share their creativity and be rewarded for their efforts," added Loopstra. "And the timing could not be better - the Steakhouse Burger is one of our most inventive and indulgent burgers to date."

NOTE: This promotion is open to Canadian residents only (excluding Quebec).
