The Revolution Will Be Televised
The judges were a bit revolted by the revolution. But, while suspenseful music played in the background, the finalists weren�t backing down backstage. "If they say the show's over, then the show�s over and I go back home and see my wife and kid," Ali said, adding: "And I look like a badass on TV." After a long talk with the producers, the judges issued a counterproposal. Whoever is eliminated is still out of the running, but he/she will still get to perform with the rest of the ensemble in the final show -- kind of like Night of the Living Shred. "You don�t get to win but you have a chance to show your stuff," Elvira explained. The finalists agreed and everybody was happy -- until Jeannie said she had something to say.
Jeannie � I would like to shred my own picture. It would be exciting for me to shred my picture. And I don't have to go through the judging again.
Dave � Hold on, we're still dong a show here. We'll do a runoff and the loser shreds their picture.
Jeannie � Somebody will have to be eliminated and I'd like to take that honour.
Mick � Well, I would like a drink. And this is the quickest way to that. Go for it...
And with that, the show�s first self-shredding was over. But the post-shredding analysis had just begun. "I think what Jeannie did had no class as a performer," said an angry Ali. "We owed to to that audience to do the improvise-off. At this point I could not care less if Jeannie Cole stays in the ensemble.
Day 11 began with just four finalists (and Jeannie) back with the mentors for Extreme Scene Makeover: Home Edition -- with Matt in full Ty Pennington mode with a really tight tank top, spiky hair and an urgent need for Ritalin. It was a productive day, until a cue card was lowered on a rope from the ceiling. "It was a message from the judges, written in rhyme, awkwardly, that we had to eliminate one of the finalists," Paul explained. "It was like Sophie�s Choice� we had to give one of my four children to the Nazis. The Nazis being obscurity." Finally, they all agreed that Ali should be the one to go. "As a person I think he's more suited to standup," Anand said. Ali was upset -- his wife had texted him that day to say she had dreamt he had won the show.
Cue the Ali flashback montage with a song that sounded like it was ripped from Elton John, or the theme from Enterprise. "I'm predicting I'm still going to win, even though I'm now out of the running," said Ali.
And the episode ended with the final three finalists -- Megan, Ian and Kayla -- reminiscing about all the losers, er, eliminated members of the troupe, and ready for their last night in the loft.
