Trish Stratus, World Wrestling Entertainment Diva. One of her current projects is helping introduce TAG Body Spray to Canada.
Yes, she really did find money in her cake: according to Greek tradition, on New Year’s Eve, a cake is baked with a coin in it. "Whoever finds the coin in their piece wins," says Stratus, who is proud of her Greek heritage.
Speaking of baked goods, Stratus loves to bake Christmas cookies with her sisters to share with the family and the big guy himself, Santa. She’s been partaking in this tradition since she was a little girl.
And while WWE fans can thank her male cousins for first introducing her to professional wrestling, her expertise in the kitchen comes from her mom. She says her mom — "the best cook in the world" — taught her everything she needed to know about success in the kitchen. Because of that expert instruction, she never uses cookbooks.
When she’s not on the road touring, Stratus loves to cook. But when she yearns for some real home cookin’ there’s still only one place she goes, to mom’s. She says she’s very comfortable just spending time with family and friends, and that get togethers always involve delicious traditional Greek dishes.
Stratus prefers that kind of evening to a night on the town, and no matter where she is in the world, the aroma of oregano brings back memories of those great dinners.
Her family believes in tradition — if you didn’t know what they were doing you might be alarmed. "At Easter, we paint hard boiled eggs red and hit them on each other," explains Stratus. "Whoever’s isn’t broken is the winner."
Working away from home so much, she has mastered the art of preparing food in a hotel room. "I can’t live without my instant boiling water feature in my sink. I can’t even imagine not having my Snackmaster (sandwich maker) at the ready," says Stratus, who has turned the classic grilled cheese sandwich into a fine culinary dish.
