Torrie Wilson announced for WWE Hall of Fame
One of Trish's rivals from the infamous WCW InVasion angle will be joining her in the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE.com officially announced Monday that Torrie Wilson has been named to the 2019 Class of inductees. The announcement came after speculation that the former Superstar would be headed into the Hall this year along with announced inductees D-Generation X and Honky Tonk Man.
"I'm so happy for Torrie!" Stratus said following the official word. "She was more dedicated to wrestling than a lot of fans will know. She was always game for anything asked of her and always put in the time to make sure her work was solid."
Wilson first entered the ring, much like Stratus, following an extremely successful fitness modeling career. The two, in fact, first met during those shoots. "Torrie had something magnetic about her. Yes she was beautiful, but her smile was contagious, she had a natural charisma to her and as a fellow self proclaimed goofball – she was always very likeable and relatable," Stratus recalled.
Wilson first joined WCW and appeared in a variety of capacities, including alongside the Revolution. When WWE purchased its rival, Wilson was one of the Superstars picked up. She and Stacy Kiebler quickly began a rivalry with Stratus and Lita. The four women competed in a tag team match at the Invasion pay-per-view in July 2001. The night after, Wilson and Stratus continued their rivalry and the two faced off with the beginnings of a storyline involving Jeff Hardy. Unfortunately Stratus got injured the following week and the angle was halted as she was off television to rehabilitate a broken ankle.
"Working with Torrie when she first came into WWE was a lot of fun," Stratus recalled. "The familiarity from our days on the fitness scene certainly helped us in confidently working together; but she had extra motivation to prove her value in WWE and showed she belonged very quickly."

Wilson and Stratus soon fell on opposite ends of the WWE spectrum, with Stratus going to Raw and Wilson going to SmackDown during the first WWE brand split. However, the two did have their interactions late in their careers in another feud after Wilson joined up with Victoria and Candice Michelle. She and Stratus fought in singles competition on numerous live events leading up to their television angle. "Vince's Devils" as they called themselves, faced off against Stratus, Ashley Massaro and Mickie James in a series of singles, tag and six-woman tag team matches.
Wilson left WWE in 2008 but has since returned on a couple occasions, including for the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble Match in 2018 and most recently at Evolution.
"It was great seeing Torrie again!" Stratus said. "We've known each other for over 20 years and coming from the same fitness background and then working in this business coupled with the road life that comes with it – it really makes for a solid bond. I'm thankful that we have kept in touch regularly and kept our friendship post WWE but participating these last WWE events was a great to bring us together to finally see each other again! I can't wait to watch Torrie take her place, a well deserved spot, in the Hall of Fame!"
